"Look
for it in the sky, it will always be there" she advises us. "Lookie lookie look."
Now know as Get the Hell Out of the Volcano Khaela's first release was "Look for It in the Sky, It Will Always Be There" now available on CD from KNW-YR-OWN. Khaela is an Olympian with that strong magnetic Anacortes blood. She is mostly known for her illuminating visual art and social work on the summer streets of Olympia but when handed a ukulele or given a chair to stand on beautiful musical stories fly out like fairies from the artesian well. "I know why cowboys sleep at night..." she begins. Then comes the assault of double meanings and sweet ballads from one town to another. It's kind of like some kind of ragtime sung sweetly with only the distant breath of an accordian or some echoey ukulele as the vehichle. The words alone are so substantial you could eat them with soup.
Lately Khaela has re-inevented guitar playing before a select few in Olympia with her new jazz samba pieces. . .
