KYO58: Karl Blau; Clothes Your I's CD
The first edition came in some hippy purses that Karl had
sewed together.
The second edition came in a sleeve made out of record sleeves
w/ a xeroxed drawing of an apparently pregnant mermaid.
Were now soliciting this cd again in a special edition.
It comes complete w/ a jewel case, shrink wrapping, and a
Tower Records friendly barcode sticker! (I think the lyrics
are printed on the back too.) Its not that were
trying to pull a Lucas on you folks; we wouldnt do that.
The thing is, this is one of our most in demand albums, and
Karl and his elves can only work at so fast a rate when making
the sleeves. Karl would be out on tour and wed run out
of copies, unable to send any more out until he arrived back
in a few weeks. Fans would call in to the Business demanding
their Blau. It wasnt pretty.
Now, to the joy of Blau fans and consumers everywhere weve
outsourced the production. (Dont worry, Karl is helping
the elves w/ their resumes.) Well be selling more Blau
than ever before!
Now Karls had (and taken) lots of hits, so what makes
this hit cd so compelling you ask?
I dont know. Maybe its the cohesiveness. Whereas
his other cds have compiled songs from various tapes, these
songs were recorded w/ the intention of being all together
on one album. If the other cds are his short story collections,
then this one is his novel.
The songs seem to be mapping out the same emotional terrain.
Its one big personal statement from Karl Blau to you
the listener. I mean, it ends w/ the same song it starts with;
could it be anything less? Clothes Your Is also has
guest stars: Phil (I think), Nate Ashley, probably some other
people, and a whole backup band of overdubbed Karl Blaus!
And the whole thing was recorded at Dub Narcotic, which must
mean something if Karl deemed it necessary to forgo his four-track.
